Santa Rosa voters will decide this fall whether to raise taxes or force their
leaders to make further cuts to balance the budget. The City Council voted
unanimously last night to place a quarter-cent sales tax on the November 2nd
ballot, a proposal that could raise six-million dollars a year. If the measure
is approved by voters, Santa Rosa's sales tax would rise to nine-and-a-half
percent. The quarter-cent increase would expire in eight years.
